Creating an Instagram Account

If you’re ready to share your photographing eye, join Instagram. It’s a simple process that will not take very much time to complete.

1) Go to ‘instagram.com’ in your web browser. On the right of that web page, you will see a section for signing up.

2) There will be four text boxes above the blue button that says ‘sign up.’ The top one is where you input your e-mail address. In the ones below that, type your name, a username, and then a password.

Once you’ve inputted all the information press ‘sign up.’ Don’t worry too much about choosing the right password or username in that moment. You can always go back and change it later.

3) The next step is to add a profile picture. This can wait until later if you don’t have a good picture right away. Click within the white circle of the blue box, which is above the words ‘add a profile photo.’ A window of your computer documents will show up and then you can select the one that works best.

4) On that same page, scroll through the suggestions that were made by Instagram of accounts to follow. Click on the blue ‘follow’ button on the right if you find one that you like. The button will turn green and say ‘following’ when you follow an account.

5) At the very bottom of this page, you will see a button that says ‘go to your feed.’ Click on it after you’ve followed all the suggestions that you wanted to. Your feed is where you can view all of the activity from yourself and the people you follow.

6) At the top of the page, you will see a search bar in the middle and three icons on the top right for discovering new people, notifications, and your profile.
