DNS

DNS

DNS stands for domain name server.  This is also widely known as domain name system. This is basically where on the internet your server is located.  This is where your website address is pointed to.

This domain name system is the system that translates a domain name into an IP address.  You and I read in by letters that form words, but the internet reads by IP addresses.  This system allows for that translation between human and internet.

Security patches can be added to these DNS systems in order to protect the website and the company from outside systems or humans from getting into, or hacking the DNS system.  This prevents personal information that is stored online in the form of names, email addresses, social security numbers, and street address.

All of the DNS’s that a person owns can be managed by a control panel.  This control panel is widely termed simply c-panel.  There are many things that can be done with the DNS through the use of the c-panel.

Installing different software such as wordpress onto a domain name, adding email addresses to a domain name and adding security and functionally are just a few of the things that can be done.
