Save in 97-2003 Format

Sometime it happens that you create your MS Excel worksheet using latest version however, when you open it on some older version of MS Excel, it fails to open. Why?

This is called the compatibility issue. Your latest version of MS Excel uses advance and latest features which are absent in previous versions therefore it is not possible to open a new file in old version of MS Excel.

But, all new versions of MS Excel supports the features of old versions and hence it is possible for you to save your file in an old version of MS Excel.

In this regard, MS Excel has a proper Excel format available called as “Excel 97-2003 Workbook”. When you save your file in this format, it surely opens in any previous versions of MS Excel.

To save your file in Excel 97-2003 Workbook format, follow the steps below:

1. Click on File and select Save As

 2. On Save As dialog box, under the Save As Type, select Excel 97-2003 Workbook from the dropdown list

 
3. Type the name of file in File name area and click Save.

Your file is ready to be opened on any old version of MS Excel.
